1 How did you grow as a teacher this module?
I feel like most of my growth came from learning more about how to do lesson plans. From the start of the quarter I didn’t have much experience and felt totally unsure about the first one I submitted using the template. However, with each lesson I feel more comfortable and confident in my abilities. Also, it has been nice to apply the knowledge from all of our classes into the lessons we create. My knowledge with standards has grown and I understand how they are constructed and the importance of a measurable assessment. Another key element is to use descriptive verbs to describe what the students are doing in the learning objective.
2. What goals do you have around lesson planning that you want to focus on as you move through the program?
When writing most of my plans for this quarter I feel like I have been focusing on reading, writing, and social studies, but I haven’t gotten much practice in creating math lesson plans. Some of my other goals for the quarter is to learn more instructional strategies to use during instruction. This will help me create variety in my lessons. Also, it would be nice to learn strategies for ELL students, accommodations, modifications, and differentiate instruction. Sometimes these sections can be hard to fill out, but it is also because we are not in a class and its all hypothetical situations
